Definition of the "Novella Genre": A novella ebook fits in between a short story and a full-length novel.  Unlike a short story, a novella has room for plot development, character growth and change, and more conflicts. However, unlike a novel, the novella typically does not have multiple perspectives, is not split into chapters, and does not have the luxury of in-depth subplots.  Novella ebooks are meant to be consumed in one sitting and take a great deal of dexterity and skill in the author drafting them.

Examples of bestselling and famous novellas are John Steinbeck (The Pearl), Stephen King (Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption), Truman Capote (Breakfast at Tiffany's) and Animal Farm (George Orwell).

Cinderella: A modern adult fairy tale. (Not quite the fairy tale Book 1)

by May Sage

The King needs an heir and that means finding some sort of woman to do the job;
"That's all it's about, ultimately: basic, carnal compatibility in order to satisfy this need. For that reason, the pictures I request of those who wish to apply are explicit. The full prerequisites are attached to the correspondence. If you aren't comfortable with these demands, don't bother applying."

Ella applies, seeing straight through the bullshit; she goes as far as derisively add a set of pictures fitting the requirements the letter demands:
A picture of her "pussy" - a fat, indolent Persian - and of her in her nightwear - yoga pants and a hoodie.
In lieu of an introduction, her message reads:

« Dear Daniel Franko Phillipe Del Luz,
I've applied to guarantee that I'm not summoned to your little orgy.
Fuck you. We aren't all stupid.
Ella. »

It was supposed to go through an automated system;
she didn't expect anyone to read it...
Let alone the King

---

This novel is intended for a mature audience - expect strong language and sexual situations. However, this is not a non stop erotica.

A DAY THAT GOD MADE

by Mike Masi

In a remote area of southwest Alaska a small cargo plane in heavy weather slams into the frozen ground at nearly two hundred miles per hour and disintegrates. Nine hundred square miles of white, empty tundra separates the crash site from the nearest human being. The airplane's sole occupant is it's gritty, discontented pilot and, improbably, he's alive, coherent and hopelessly trapped. This novella is a provocative, true story and evokes the short works of Jack London , while offering the possibility that luck may have another name.

A Favorite Son

by Uvi Poznansky

This story is a present-day twist on the biblical story of Jacob and his mother Rebecca plotting together against the elderly father Isaac, who is lying on his deathbed, in order to get their hands on the inheritance, and on the power in the family. This is no old fairy tale. Its power is here and now, in each one of us.

Listening to Yankle telling his take on events, we understand the bitter rivalry between him and his brother. We become intimately engaged with every detail of the plot, and every shade of emotion in these flawed, yet fascinating characters. He yearns to become his father's favorite son, seeing only one way open to him: deceit.

In planning his deception, it is not love for his father, nor respect for his age that drives his hesitation--rather, it is the fear to be found out. And so--covering his arm with the hide of a kid, pretending to be that which he is not--he is now ready for the last moment he is going to have with his father.

An Etiquette Guide to the End Times: A Novella

by Maia Sepp

There aren’t any zombies (yet), but the world is still at the brink of destruction: It’s 2028 and global warming has led to rising oceans, crazy weather, and resource scarcity. On top of that, someone just turned the Internet off. Seeing as how it’s humanity’s last chance to turn things around manners are, understandably, a bit frayed.

Bookish etiquette buff Olive O’Malley is busy microfarming her urban property and minding her own business (and her chickens) when the government comes calling. Their goal is to push the populace towards carbon-neutrality while keeping kvetching to a minimum, and they come with a proposal: transition Olive’s popular etiquette column to a radio show for the masses, and they’ll help Olive find her grandfather, who’s gone missing.

Olive doesn’t trust the hipster government officials who try to bribe her with delicious-but-probably-a-little-evil chocolate pastries, and declines their offer. (Politely, of course.) But they won't take no for an answer, and soon Olive is knee-deep in turmoil, eco-terrorism, and missing chickens. Now she has to untangle herself from their demands and figure out how to make sure her family (and her poultry) are safe before it’s too late.
