Sometimes, this world just isn't enough, right?  And, what's better than stepping to a world created by some of the most imaginative authors around?  That's what we bring to you on as consistent a basis as possible. Free and discounted ebooks in the Fantasy genre from bestselling authors. Never pay full price again to escape into thousands of different mindscapes!

Definition of the "Fantasy Genre": As alluded to above, the primary components of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are the creation of a rich and expansive other world.  While those other worlds can have aspects similar to our reality, the less so, the better.  Ebooks in the Fantasy genre also use magic commonly, and include magical creatures in their plot lines.  Perhaps one of the most important technical elements of a Fantasy ebook is that while the rules in the other world created by the author may not work in our reality, they are internally consistent to the story itself.

Some examples of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Brandon Sanderson (The Way of Kings), and Piers Anthony (his entire Xanth series).  And, you know what?  We are going to throw the movie The Neverending Story in here, because it had a book in it after all, and it's a premier example of fantasy.

Moon Tortured (Sky Brooks Series Book 1)

by McKenzie Hunter

Skylar’s death came not at the end, after a long fulfilling existence, not in the middle, as a result of an untimely tragic event—but at the beginning, with her birth.

As a final effort to save her dying unborn child, Skylar’s pregnant mother, a witch, sacrificed herself by invoking a powerful spirit shade to inhabit Skylar’s body, imbuing her with life. For twenty-three years, Skylar lived a life of oblivion, content with her simple job, loving adoptive mother and the monthly inconvenience of a full moon hangover after being sedated and caged when she changed into a wolf. It wasn’t exciting but it was her life until one night, she woke up in a strange room in the middle of rural Illinois—bruised and with jumbled memories of her mother’s death from a vampire attack. The Midwest pack comes to her rescue. Known for being more ruthless than altruistic she doesn’t know if she can trust them.

But after an assassination attempt by a necromancer, an abduction attempt by a mercenary, and more aggressive and violent attacks by the vampires, she has no other choice but to accept their help. The Midwest pack quickly discover that Skylar is the host to a spirit shade, who gives her magical abilities, that make her as much of a danger as an asset and that she is the key to the vampires’ plan to perform a ritual that will give them unrestricted power. Tension rises as the pack become divided between those who think her life is worth protecting as a potential ally and those who believe she is too dangerous to live. In the end, Skylar finds herself fighting for her life—a life that may be tragically taken too soon.

There are ghosts in the forest, and one of them cries out to Carlie across the years. Come find me.

Shadowland: A Tale From The Dark Ages

by C.M. Gray

We grow up with the Legend of King Arthur... but where did he come from? Who was Merlin? What part did the Druids play in bringing Arthur to his round table? This is the story that came before, when Britain was just a Shadowland.

On the night of Midwinter's Eve, a storyteller takes his listeners back to the Dark Ages and a tale from his youth.

`I have lived more years than I can remember, probably more than the sum of all your years combined. Kings have called me friend and brigands have sworn to burn the flesh from my bones, even if they have to search all seven halls of the shadowland to find me.'

Deserted by its Roman masters, Britain has been invaded by the Saxons at the invitation of Vortigern, traitorous leader of the Britons. Now, as the tribes unite to reclaim their land, one man must rise to lead them and become their only true king.

Shadowland is a young adult story of historical fantasy set in the Dark Ages of Britain; however, it is gathering fans of all ages.

The Last Whisper of the Gods

by James Berardinelli

According to legend, there was once a time when wizards walked the lands of Ayberia. With powers so mighty that even kings bowed to them, they existed outside the common laws of men. But a thousand years ago, the gods, angry at their creations for giving adulation and worship to wizards, withdrew magic from the world. The wonders of a lost age faded from memory with history giving birth to myths and children's stories...

For one common stableboy, Sorial of Vantok, wizards are no more a real concern than the other long-gone creatures of legend: elves, wyrms, dragons, and trolls. There is only the immediacy of keeping the straw clean and the animals fed to avoid the wrath of his master, the innkeeper Warburm. But Sorial's mysterious past is about to impinge on his present. The secrets surrounding his birth are set to collide with a heretical theology decreeing that the gods are no more. With assassins lurking in the shadowy recesses of the stable, a relentless heat wave turning Winter to Summer, and a duke's daughter showing more interest in him than is proper, Sorial discovers that the "safe" world of his childhood is under assault. His destiny will not allow him to merely observe the disintegration of the social order; he must uncover his past so he can act to safeguard the future.

Sapphyre (Runestar Chronicles Book 1)

by Jason Komito

Orphan, thief, healer, demon slayer.....What else will she become?

Sapphyre has always known she has some innate magical ability, but being an orphan growing up on the streets, she is both unaware of where it comes from or how to control it. For the last two winters she has served ale and food in the Dragon’s Flagon and until this evening, it has been rather uneventful. The stranger with the yellow eyes has accumulated a large stack of coin at the dice game and has attracted much attention. Sapphyre notices that with each winning roll, what looks like a tattoo of a cat’s eye lights up on the man’s neck. Glancing around the table, she is shocked to see that no one else can see it.

Sapphyre learns the stranger’s name, and listens to his tale the following day. Ashcon explains that he is a runestar, a defender of the light and the stars. He has runes, not tattoos, all over his body, that enable him certain powers. The runes can only be seen when he activates them, and even then only by extremely powerful practitioners of magic. Ashcon asks Sapphyre to join him and his companion Skken in the search for a man named Sorenthor, who will be able to determine why she can see his runes and from where her magic hails.

The first book in this epic fantasy series follows Sapphyre and her companions as they attempt to reach Sorenthor’s Library in the hopes of finding answers for Sapphyre, as to her true heritage. The meeting between Ashcon and Sapphyre has put into play ancient prophecies. The followers of the Zagador, the Dark Gods, led by Ashcon’s brother Drak’thonn, are spurred into motion and will stop at nothing to track down and destroy Ashcon and his companions, and plunge the world into Eternal Night.
