Definition of the "Fantasy Genre": As alluded to above, the primary components of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are the creation of a rich and expansive other world. While those other worlds can have aspects similar to our reality, the less so, the better. Ebooks in the Fantasy genre also use magic commonly, and include magical creatures in their plot lines. Perhaps one of the most important technical elements of a Fantasy ebook is that while the rules in the other world created by the author may not work in our reality, they are internally consistent to the story itself.
Some examples of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Brandon Sanderson (The Way of Kings), and Piers Anthony (his entire Xanth series). And, you know what? We are going to throw the movie The Neverending Story in here, because it had a book in it after all, and it's a premier example of fantasy.

While some have held out against the grind of history, other places have been reduced to primitive tribes of savages, worshiping dark spirits and demons as their gods.
Yet a spark of hope remains. Some still believe in the old legends, some still fight to restore the old ways, and some will stand against the darkness, in an echo of the High Kings.

My name is Sumto, and everyone thinks I am a gambling, lazy, good-for-nothing drunk. Frankly, I think they have a point. Right now I may have to join the army and fight in a war I am frankly too corpulent to cope with.
Still, it looks like being a small, short war. So that's got to be as bad as things get. Am I right?
Trained in his youth for war and politics, Sumto is interested in neither. As the son of a Patron, he should gather clients, acquire wealth, learn magic, husband a political power base and take his place amongst the Assembly of Patrons, the rulers of the city. Sumto would rather gather friends, acquire books, learn history, husband a hangover and take his place at the gambling tables. That is not going to be an option for much longer.
Unknown to Sumto, everything is about to change. There is a war in the north and Sumto is about to become a very unwilling participant.

Have you ever wondered where fairytales go once they're created?
It's been eight years since Story Sparks last had a dream. Now they're back,
tormenting her as nightmares she can't remember upon waking. The black
waters of Lake Sandeen, where her Uncle Peter disappeared decades
before, may hold the secret to Story's hidden memories, or a truth she'd
rather not know. On a bright summer afternoon, Story and her two best
friends, Elliott and Adam, take a hike to the lake, where they dive into
the cool water and never reemerge. What they find is beyond anything
they've ever imagined could be possible, a world where dangers lurk in
the form of Big Bad Wolves, living Nightmares and meddlesome witches and
gods.
Now Story must remember who she really is and somehow stop
two worlds from ultimate annihilation, all while trying not to be too
distracted by the inexplicable pull she feels toward a certain dark-eyed
traveler who seems to have secrets of his own. The fates of the worlds
are counting on her.
